Chair of the Board

Suzanne Gayle Rose is a longtime resident volunteer and business owner in Hayward California. Through both her business and volunteering opportunities, she has over 15 years’ experience working on public Murals, utility boxes and community events. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with many of our community’s non-profit organizations while serving on various city and county boards and commissions. As the Owner of Star Arts Suzanne has worked closely for over 15 years with both the City of Hayward on many public art murals and utility boxes, as well as having worked closely with Hayward Unified District both painting murals at the district hub and many of our schools along with mentoring students to create their own murals and art works. After becoming disabled and facing some personal crises, she was inspired to create a silver lining, leveraging these experiences to establish Stars Arts. The purpose being to support others, who are facing similar crises, by using Art to communicate and help them discover the experiences of telling stories through public art.

Secretary

Christine Pacheco is a lifelong artist and Hayward resident for 28 years. She paints murals and does mosaics and other art through Pacheco Productions from 2010 to present day. She has done several large-scale murals in and around Hayward as well as several large mosaic installations. Christine has also completed 16 utility box murals, which is one of her favorite things to do artistically. Christine worked with Suzanne Gayle with Star Arts Studio 2009 to 2011 teaching classes and painting murals. With Star Arts Studio, she taught art fundamentals, jewelry making, polymer clay and mosaics to children and adults. She also taught art at Hayward La Honda Music Camp for two summers 2014 and 2015 with upwards of 50 students and ran the arts and crafts room at Berkeley YMCA every Friday evening for Family Night for three years (2007 to 2010) teaching children of all ages. In addition to creating and teaching art, Christine has been involved with volunteering throughout her children’s years in Hayward Public Schools, serving on boards from Parent Participation Preschool to Hayward High School’s Marching Band. Christine tries to balance her appreciation for art and artists by finding ways to serve her community.

Board Member

Brenda Ramirez is a teacher and an artist of 18 years+. She was an art teacher at Bowman elementary in Hayward, CA., and
also painted murals in collaboration with other artists in Hayward. What she values most is instilling a sense of wonder and a love of creativity in the students she works with. She currently lives with her husband and pet bunny, Bella Buttons, in San Leandro, CA.

Board Member

Mary June Manglicmot has lived in Hayward since 1984, attended Mt. Eden High School and went on to UC Berkeley for undergrad studies. Professionally, she is a senior environmental risk underwriter for an environmental and construction professional division of a commercial insurance brokerage. She is one of the founders of Golden Oak Montessori and Silver Oak Montessori high school, now collectively known as Twin Oaks Montessori. She is an advocate for inclusivity . Her primary goal is to serve the community as best she can and providing safe haven for the marginalized members of the community.
